Getting started

Introduction

mailrust is a mail client you run on your own server: a fast inbox for every mailbox you have, with cold outreach, newsletters, deliverability tools and a way for AI agents to work with your mail.

It is not a mail server. mailrust connects to the mailboxes you already have, over IMAP and SMTP, and to Gmail and Microsoft 365 with OAuth. Your mail stays where it is; mailrust keeps an index, your contacts and its settings in one file next to the program.

What is inside

AreaWhat it does
MailSplit inbox, threads, search with operators, snooze, undo send, follow-up reminders, shared mailboxes with assignments
OutreachCampaigns with steps that stop on reply, A/B variants, warm-up, a pipeline from the first email to the deal
NewslettersLists with double opt-in, an issue builder, drip series, opens and clicks, bounces and complaints
DeliverabilitySPF, DKIM and DMARC checks, blocklists, DMARC reports, inbox placement tests, your own link domain
AI agentsAn MCP server: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own agent work with your mail, within the rights you give
AdministrationPeople and roles, mailbox access, an audit log, retention rules, single sign-on

How it runs

mailrust is one static program for Linux. The installer puts it on a server with systemd, and it either sits behind your web server or serves HTTPS on its own with a Let's Encrypt certificate. Updates are signed, and a failed update rolls back by itself.
